Stickers Arrived

So many thanks to the generous folks at Sticker Giant.  This year’s WordCamp stickers have arrived and are fantastic.  The sticker sheet features a horizontal logo, vertical logo, text only, and build-your-own WordPress logo puzzle.  They will be waiting for you at the registration desk when you arrive.

Missing Presentation Topics

We’ve received a grip of great speaker submissions, but we still have some gaps in our topic list. The following is a short list of topics for which we’ve received few to no submissions.  Any of these take your fancy?  And feel free to send more than one submission.  Every year we get lots of sweet submissions from great speakers on duplicate topics. Come on, Southern California, let’s get crazy! Go to speaker submission page >>>

  • Plugins development
  • eCommerce
  • Essential Plugins
  • bbPress
  • Membership
  • General Design
  • Stuff For Beginners
  • SEO
  • Custom Post Types
  • Real Estate
  • WordPress for Podcasting
  • Using WordPress as a Hub

Also if you are an attendee and there’s a particular topic you’d like to see, add it to the comments below.

Maps!

Howdy, campers! We are working on getting a map together for all the WordCamp Orange County happenings.  (We don’t have a location set for the after party, but we’ll add it to the map as soon as we do.)  But the map shows the location of the event, parking for the event, nearby hotels and John Wayne Airport for our out-of-town guests. Attendees Page Is Up

The tickets are selling like hotcakes (which are delicious).  (As of this post there are only 54 tickets left.) If you haven’t bought your ticket yet and are considering getting one, get it now! Don’t pull an Anton and be scrambling for a ticket at the last moment.

That said, we’ve posted the attendees page so we call all see our lovely WordPress friends. (It’s alphabetical by first name.) Who’s your WordCamp OC Attendees rowmate? Mine is Jason Tucker, which is sweet! Although as tickets continue to sell, my attendees rowmate may change. If we have to implement the buddy system at WordCamp, this will be your buddy.

If you are displeased with the Gravatar that shows up on the list, go to gravatar.com and get your picture set up. The image shown is tied to the email you used when buying your ticket.  Also, this is the avatar that will show up on your badge (if we choose to print avatars on badges this year; haven’t designed those yet).

Tickets are On Sale!

Tickets for WordCamp Orange County 2012 are now available for purchase.

Get That Ticket!

Remember, tickets are limited this year, so get ‘em while they are available. Don’t delay, my friends!  More tickets may become available down the line, but don’t wait for that.  Also, please know that all sales are final.  No refunds.  If you find you can’t go, let us know and we will try to find another buyer for you ticket, or you can make someone’s day and give you ticket away.  (Make sure the recipient takes great notes for you as a thank you gift.)  We look forward to seeing you at the event!

Lend Us Your Talent – We Want Speakers

We’re looking for speakers! This year we’ll have two tracks with each session running 40-45 minutes for a total of 16 sessions. Topics can include, but certainly aren’t limited to plugins, themes, child themes, custom post types, MultiSite, BuddyPress, bbPress, SEO, optimization, code, core, trac, trunk, and all things WordPress.  Have an idea for a presentation? Have several ideas? Keep submitting, we are looking for diversity and passion!

We will select and notify speakers around May 2.  Due to the high volume of submissions we won’t be able to select all candidates, but we will be sure to let all candidates know of the final selection. Whether selected or not, we do thank you for putting your hat into the ring.

Slightly Greener than Last Year

We have a fool-proof, two-pronged attack to save the planet while also indulging our voracious WordPress appetite.

#1: Bring your own mug!  Bring your own coffee mug and refill through the day. Avoid using a disposable cup.

#2: Bring your own lanyard!  Bring a lanyard from your favorite WordCamp and use that for the day. We will not be printing any new lanyards this year.  We’ve saved the left-over lanyards from the last two OC WordCamps and are also going to take WordCamp San Diego’s left-overs from their upcoming camp and distributing all of those. But it’ll be a lot more fun if we see a lot of lanyards from different WordCamp cities.

We also have one camper who will be riding her bike to the event.  Do you live close enough to Vanguard University to bike as well?

What to Expect at This Year’s Camp

As we mentioned in the last post, we will be hosting this year’s WordCamp at Vanguard University. Ticket price will include admission to both Saturday and Sunday, lunch, t-shirt and parking.  Coffee will also be provided both days! (Bring your own travel mug to help cut down on waste.)

The main event on Saturday will be two tracks of presentations.  Sunday will be a looser developer day.  We are also trying to develop little workshops for Sunday.
